"The Princess and The Frog"

If you have any advice about pursuing a career in animation PLEASE skip down to paragraph 3

Ok, so first things first...

I saw "The Princess and the Frog" today and it was fan-flipping-tastic! Seriously when it comes out in December EVERYONE should see it! I know I will go see it again at least twice! I started crying as soon as it started because I was just SO happy that Disney is going back to 2D animation. And let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed. It was just as good as all of the other Disney classic 2D animation films. The whole plot was just so... UGH I WISH I COULD TALK ABOUT IT! I don't want to give away any spoilers! All of the characters were just so lovable and the story line was so touching and the animation was so outstanding and you just HAVE to see it!

Now on to less important things...

I broke my foot. Yeah I know, "smooth Shannon", but seriously, its been a bitch. So while that is no excuse for lack of updates (because there has been a serious lack of them for a LONG time) it IS a major factor. Not to mention I have been totally SWAMPED with assignments for school, but I HAVE been drawing and crafting and such (maybe I'll post my 7 foot tall wood sculpture I had to make) and I will post some of those ASAP!

Also, I am SUPER stressed about my education and such. Not because of grades because I'm doing fine (though exams ARE around the corner) but I need to decide SOON if I want to transfer. See, here's the thing, my life's ambition since before I can remember (which probably only means a few weeks ago, harty-har-har) has been to become a 2D Disney animator. Now I know that the odds of that are SO SLIM, but honestly I would be happy to be an animator ANYWHERE. The problem: My father thinks I won't get a job and that I will become a starving artist (which he's probably right about) and refused to let me apply to any colleges unless I applied as an Art Ed major. As a result, I applied and got into TCNJ which is known for its amazing education program. But obviously I wasn't going to study for a job I had no interest in so I developed a mission, CONVICNE DAD THAT YOU SHOULD STUDY ANIMATION. It took me all last summer to convince him to let me switch my major to a double major of Fine Arts and Digital Arts. And recently I convinced him that I AM going to become an animator whether he likes it or not (but I would love his help paying for school) and he's ok with that and will support me. But here's the thing: I need to decide if I want to finish getting my BFA degree and then move on to an animation school or transfer to a school like CalArts, and I need to make this decision before applications are due in Feb. See, I am learning SO MUCH at TCNJ, but I should really be getting instruction in animation at a school that specializes in it. I could finish getting my BFA and then go to an animation school, but that's another extra four years of schooling at least and time I'd rather not waste if I can help it but I don't want to waste my parent's money they put into TCNJ, so I am in a predicament. I know my page isn't traveled much, but if you see this and have any advice, please leave it, because I would really appreciate some right now.

Anyway, Film was great (GO SEE IT) and busted foot should be better in mid December as long as I don't mess it up more. Hopefully I'll update sooner!
